Head of IT – Group Function

Purpose of the Role

To lead the Group’s IT strategy, infrastructure, systems and digital transformation across multiple business units. The Head of IT ensures technology enables growth, efficiency, security and operational resilience, while aligning each business with a unified, modern IT roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

Group IT Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and deliver a Group‑wide IT strategy aligned to business growth, operational needs and digital maturity
• Standardise systems, platforms and policies across all business units
• Act as the senior IT advisor to the Group Board and MDs, providing clear insight, risk assessment and recommendations
• Lead IT governance, ensuring compliance, security and best practice across the Group

Infrastructure, Systems & Operations

• Own the Group’s infrastructure (network, servers, cloud, hardware, comms) ensuring stability, scalability and resilience
• Oversee business‑critical systems including ERP, CRM, finance platforms, production systems and mobile workforce tools
• Drive system upgrades, integrations and modernisation programmes
• Ensure robust disaster recovery, business continuity and cyber‑security frameworks

Digital Transformation & Improvement

• Identify opportunities for automation, workflow improvement and digital tools that enhance productivity
• Lead transformation projects across multiple sites, ensuring adoption, training and measurable impact
• Introduce data and reporting improvements to support commercial, operational and financial decision‑making
• Champion innovation and new technologies that strengthen the Group’s competitive position

Supplier, Partner & Budget Management

• Manage IT suppliers, MSPs, software vendors and licensing agreements
• Negotiate contracts, monitor performance and ensure value for money
• Own the IT budget, forecasting and investment planning
• Ensure procurement aligns with Group standards and long‑term strategy

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and develop the IT team across the Group (service desk, infrastructure, systems analysts, project leads)
• Build a high‑performance culture with clear roles, accountability and progression pathways
• Ensure consistent service levels across all sites and business units
• Support managers and employees with training, guidance and technology adoption

Experience & Background

• Proven leadership in IT within a multi‑site or multi‑business environment
• Strong experience with ERP/CRM systems, infrastructure management and cloud technologies
• Background in manufacturing, engineering, construction, logistics or similar operationally complex sectors
• Demonstrable track record of delivering IT transformation and modernisation
• Experience managing suppliers, MSPs and significant IT budgets
• Strong understanding of cyber‑security, compliance and risk management
