Uk Logistics Manager

Six Degrees are delighted to be assisting a global organisation in the search for a UK Logistics Manager.

The Role

• Ensure health and safety standards are met in line with or client’s standards and targets. Create a safe working environment for all employees by putting in place safety measures and audits to prevent accidents that may arise in the workplace.
• Drive year on year continuous service levels and cost improvements to deliver a best in class operation.
• Initiation and management of logistics improvement projects.
• Management of all logistics activities on site, ensuring efficient and effective management of all resources, equipment and 3rd party carriers.
• Develop and maintain good stock control processes through daily cycle counts to drive high levels of inventory accuracy.
• Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and OTIF (on time in full) targets. Maintaining metrics, departmental performance boards, analyze data to assess performance and implement improvement.
• Manage all physical inbound and outbound shipments to ensure prompt receipt and shipment of customer orders in-line with the promise date to the customers.
• Manage the shipping process including the creation of all necessary transportation documentation needed for each shipment in-line with legal country requirements and international trade laws, along with the completion of any customs and excise documentation.
• Inspection of goods to be delivered to ensure the quantity is correct and the quality is of the right and acceptable standard and to supervise the loading of such goods into dispatch vehicles for delivery.
• Attend the daily production and scheduling meetings and take appropriate action to ensure orders are ‘expedited’ in conjunction with the plan and concise and accurate feedback on progress is provided.
• Ensure all standard operating procedures are up to date and adhered to by the Logistics department and comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements.
• To improve the ‘customer experience., resolving any logistics complaints and issues which are raised.
• Set agree and manage the logistics budget and report on variances putting in place corrective actions to ensure the budget is achieved each month.
• Ensure communication and transfer of knowledge and information within the logistics department is undertaken, as well as between departments.
• To manage and lead the logistics team through an engaging and coaching leadership approach.
• Provide regular feedback to the team and to individuals on team and individual performance
• Lead and manage the logistics team in-line with company policies and procedures, confidently undertaking absence management, performance management and dealing with and challenging underperformance as and when required to do so.
• Create and manage the transportation tender processes and to manage carrier improvements.
• Drive transportation cost and service improvements for all the UK manufacturing companies in line with the overall transportation management strategy.
• Ensure timely delivery of monthly and quarterly performance reporting.

About You
• Proven working experience as a logistics manager
• Record of successful distribution and logistics management
• Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff with a “Can-do” attitude
• Lean and continuous
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, planning and organizational skills
• Carrier Management and carrier negotiation experience
• ERP knowledge and IT literate (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
