Software / IT Lead

Six Degrees are delighted to be assisting with a client who are looking for an IT ? Software development lead for their group of businesses.


Purpose of Role & Dimensions

• To assist with the provision of an efficient IT service within the Group.
• To work with and support the Group IT Manager.
• To develop and maintain software solutions for use within the Group.

Key Responsibilities
• To develop or assist in the development of in-house IT systems and processes
• To maintain and develop the electronic communication project.
• To provide front line support for client IT users.
• To provide software support.
• To help manage the involvement of third party consultants, contractors and software providers used in the delivery of the Group’s IT and communications services.
• To act as a point of contact for IT, hardware and software queries arising in the business and liaise with third party software providers in the resolution of those issues as necessary.
• To develop a technical understanding of the business’ computer hardware and software systems.
• To set up user hardware, software and security as and when necessary.
• To create and report management information as and when necessary.
• To help maintain IT equipment deployed throughout the Group.
• To log, rectify and notify faults within the Group’s IT systems where appropriate.
• To work on ad-hoc projects as and when necessary.

Competency Levels – Essential

• NVQ level 3 or higher level IT qualification.
• Detailed understanding and experience of Microsoft Visual Basic.
• A full / clean driving licence.
• Willingness to attend additional relevant training courses, including ones that may include overnight stays.
• Willingness and ability to develop a detailed understanding of all of the systems currently used across the group.

Competency Levels – Desirable

• Knowledge of and experience of Opera accounts package
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard computing languages including SQL
• Network administration and configuration
• Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Server (2012 upwards)
• Experience in the development of databases and bespoke operating systems
